The Griffith School of Pharmacy and Medical Sciences offers students the opportunity to learn in a world-class environment, providing the training and tools necessary.

Students learn in smaller class sizes at Griffith, with accessible, award-winning lecturers, who are also practicing pharmacists and are active in research.

Learning outcomes include:

  • Understanding the principles and techniques of pharmaceutical, clinical and social sciences

  • Acquiring the ability to communicate and deliver pharmaceutical care in community and hospital settings

  • Taking on the professional responsibility for the manufacturing and testing of pharmaceutical products

Students will also benefit greatly from hands-on experience using state-of-the-art facilities, including:

  • Dedicated compounding and formulation laboratories

  • Pharmacology and analytical laboratories

  • Professional practice laboratory with model dispensary

  • Aseptic dispensing unit

Griffith has also developed immersive augmented and virtual reality learning environments, believed to be the first in the world in pharmacy education.

Students will be able to interact with various settings, including hospital and community pharmacies, without even having to leave the classroom.

Griffith students will be equipped to work across the pharmacy sector with advanced knowledge and skills in:

  • Pharmaceutical, clinical and social sciences

  • Pharmacology

  • Professional and clinical pharmacy practice

  • Pharmacy research

They will spend time undertaking placements at various locations, to gain experience in integrating theoretical learning with its application, in the professional working environment. Thanks to more than 400 partners of Griffith, this can be done in metropolitan, rural, international and industrial settings.

The pharmacy program at Griffith University is accredited by the Australian Pharmacy Council and graduates will be able to apply to be a registered pharmacist under the Pharmacy Board of Australia, subject to any additional requirements stipulated.

Griffith graduates have had excellent employment success, as they are highly sought after in healthcare environments throughout Australia and overseas, with a reputation for being more work ready, with more real-life work knowledge.
